How We Can Help with Your Dental Emergency

A dental emergency can involve anything from sudden and severe dental pain, trauma to the teeth or gums, uncontrollable bleeding, or other issues that require immediate attention. Some of the most common dental emergencies include:

  • Dental Pain: Typically a sign of an underlying issue, our dental professionals can diagnose the source of discomfort and provide treatment to alleviate pain and prevent further complications.
  • Trauma to the Face, Neck, or Jaw: This can result in a chipped or broken tooth, swollen tissue, severe pain, a broken appliance or all of the above.
  • Chipped or Broken Teeth: While a small chip doesn't typically constitute an emergency, major breakage can cause unbearable pain that demands immediate intervention.
  • Lost Crown or Bridges: We swiftly address lost crowns or bridges, offering replacements or repairs to restore functionality and aesthetics.
  • Swollen Gums: Often a sign of infection, we will treat swollen gums through cleaning and medication if necessary, addressing the root cause of the swelling.
  • Infection: If you notice an abscess or infection, ignoring it can make the problem worse. To treat the area, we use advanced techniques, such as prescribing antibiotics and performing root canal therapy.

We recommend trying dental floss first for issues like something stuck between teeth. However, for any persistent or severe problem, it's crucial to seek professional care as soon as possible.

Experience prompt and professional dental care when you need it most. Book today with our team and ensure your dental health is in the best hands.

When Should I Go to the Emergency Room vs. The Dentist

A dentist can address common dental issues such as toothaches or chipped teeth. However, patients should seek medical attention for severe, uncontrollable bleeding or trauma involving the head or neck, as these could indicate more serious conditions.

What Can I Do to Relieve Pain or Swelling

If you are experiencing dental pain or swelling, start by rinsing your mouth with warm salt water. Then, apply a cold compress to the affected area and in necessary, take over-the-counter pain medication to alleviate discomfort. If the pain or swelling persists, avoid hot or cold food and drinks, and chew on the opposite side of your mouth until you can see a dentist.

After a recent visit, they said just call back to make an appointment to get those wisdom teeth removed. Easy enough.... I call back and they have no knowledge of this and ask for me to come in for brand new scans even after just being there a week ago!Update, Don’t worry about future visits. We have moved to much more productive dentists willing to call us.

As usual a wonderful experience at Rosemary Heights Dental today for a checkup and cleaning. The cleaning was very thorough and every step explained by Christine, my hygienist. She also gave me some good tips to keep my teeth and gums in even better condition. Dr. Andy came in for my checkup and again was very thorough and will be following up with the minimal dental work I need done. Everyone at Rosemary Heights is so friendly and helpful as they have been for the 30+ years we’ve been clients there. Highly recommend this practice.
